How Your AC Is Supposed to Work
Your air conditioning system cools your home by circulating refrigerant through a cycle: the compressor pumps refrigerant gas to the outdoor condenser coils, where heat is released; the refrigerant then moves through an expansion valve and into the indoor evaporator coils, where it absorbs heat from your home’s air.
Finally, the blower fan pushes that newly cooled air through your ducts and vents to keep your home comfortable. When any link in this chain breaks down, your system can start blowing warm air instead of cold, and proper airflow throughout the system is essential to keeping every stage working the way it should.

Dirty air filters
A clogged air filter restricts airflow, forcing your system to work harder and sometimes freeze up or start blowing warm air as a result. Thermostat issues

- Confirm your thermostat is set to “Cool” with the fan on “Auto,” not “On” — checking your thermostat settings takes seconds and rules out a common false alarm
- Check your breaker panel for a tripped circuit that may be preventing your outdoor unit from running
- Clear leaves, dirt, and vegetation from around your outdoor unit to restore proper airflow to the condenser coils
- Listen for unusual hissing, bubbling, or grinding sounds that could point to refrigerant leaks or a failing compressor
